Nadiia Shapoval
Nadiia Shapoval (b. 1989, Kyiv, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian cultural researcher, creative director, and founder of the brand Nadiia, launched in 2018 to bring traditional Ukrainian practices into contemporary functional and decorative design. After earlier work in modeling, styling, and fashion, and studies in journalism and fashion business in Milan, she turned her focus toward Ukrainian heritage through archival research, field studies, archaeological expeditions, and ethnographic travel across Ukraine.
Shapoval’s ceramics practice reinterprets Ukrainian folk pottery forms for modern life, creating handmade objects that connect craft history with contemporary aesthetics. Her ceramic pieces are developed in collaboration with artists and artisans, including Masha Reva, and are described as tactile, warm, sincere, and rooted in the spiritual and everyday power of clay objects.
