Esteban Fuentes de Maria
Esteban Fuentes de Maria (b. 1995, Mexico) is a Mexican artist whose work builds upon the two-century-long artistic legacy of his family. His practice combines large-scale formats such as murals with intimate works, each reflecting a nuanced dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary artistic innovation.
In 2009, Fuentes de Maria painted his first mural at Lansi Suomen Opisto in Finland, marking his debut in Europe and his foray into large-scale formats. Since then, his works have been prominently exhibited in Mexico at significant cultural and institutional landmarks, including Paseo de la Reforma, the Museo Nacional de Antropología's gates, the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia, the Museo Barroco, and the National Auditorium.
Beyond Mexico, Fuentes de María has established a considerable international presence. His works have been showcased at Fabrica de Arte Cubano and El Tanque in Havana, Cuba (2015), Casa Diógenes in Barcelona (2014), and the Palais Royal in Paris. Between 2017 and 2019, he further expanded his global reach by presenting artworks and enacting a living installation at the Louvre, reinforcing his status as an internationally recognized artist.
