Francisca Rey (b. 2000, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, photography, video, drawing, textiles, and jewelry. Drawing from personal experiences, she constructs evocative symbolic worlds that navigate memory, dreams, trauma, corporeality, mortality, and the shifting boundaries between light and shadow.

Working through an intuitive and deeply personal process, Rey approaches image-making as a means of confronting the uncertainties of time and existence. Her compositions unfold as poetic visual narratives in which recurring symbols and enigmatic forms become vehicles for examining emotional states, psychic landscapes, and the complexities of human experience.

Rey studied at the National University of the Arts (UNA) and Regina Espacio de Arte (REA). Between 2019 and 2021, she participated in the analysis and production workshop led by Valeria Rovatti. In 2021, she presented Manglar at Acéfala Gallery. Since 2022, she has continued her artistic development through painting and analysis classes with Héctor Maranesi. That same year, she was selected for the anniversary edition of Curriculum Cero at Ruth Benzacar Gallery, and in 2023 participated in a workshop led by Ernesto Ballesteros.

PROJECTS

Group exhibition reconsiders Argentina’s surrealist artistic legacy from the unstable terrain of the contemporary world, displacing the human as its privileged subject and tracing agency across bodies, technologies, ecologies, matter, other forms of life, and invisible forces.
