Hydra : Island in the Sound Book

Hydra: Island in the Sound is a limited-edition publication by Mnemosyne Projects, released as a book accompanied by a 7″ EP vinyl record—pressed in the Czech Republic and limited to 300 hand-numbered copies. The book features writing by Alkistis Boutsioukou and Ekaterina Juskowski, who explore Hydra Island’s cultural traditions and the lived experiences of its residents.

The vinyl EP includes six original tracks that evoke the island’s unique sonic landscape. Composed by Angela Tisner, the music blends field recordings, ambient textures, and orchestrated soundscapes to create a layered sonic mythology. Voices from the local community are interwoven with atmospheric compositions, conjuring scenes of daily life, ritual, and memory. Each track becomes a portal—transporting listeners into Hydra’s timeless rhythms and dreamlike terrain.
