Eligibility

Art Residency at the Old Carpet Factory is open to international sound, visual and interdisciplinary artists, writers, composers, musicians, filmmakers, playwrights, photographers, and architects.  Applicants must be 21+ years of age at the moment of their application. Collaborative groups are eligible to apply, however, Art Residency at the Old Carpet Factory cannot accommodate large collaborative groups to live on-site. Exceptions may be granted to duos willing to share a room or Artist + Curator duos submitting a project and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Musician and bands looking to record an album do not qualify for the residency and should submit a booking inquiry to the Old Carpet Factory Recording Studio directly. 

Cost and Funding

Artists are responsible for travel and supply expenses. Room is covered by the program. Additional project-specific funding might be available on a case-by-case basis. 

Benefits

Art Residency at the Old Carpet Factory provides time and space for artists in need of a creative freedom and inspiration. The location offers an authentic cultural experience surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Hydra. 

Artists have the ability to use the house and the island for their work, research, experiment, and inspiration. Art Residents are provided with a private bedroom and are given access to all parts of the house. Access to the recording studio is excluded from the art residency and can be discussed separately.
